SPORTS BETTING INDEX was founded in 2000 to help punters with all aspects of internet betting as the phenomenon of online gambling took off.
Whilst the site has changed and developed over time the core beliefs remain the same: being independent, honest and open.

As you can imagine running a betting website I get regular requests to test software etc but it is rare for me to find something that I can actually recommend and I am very particular in what I put on Sports Betting Index. Some of you will have spotted a few weeks ago a series of “bets” that I put up on Twitter trying to predict which horses are likely to shorten in price and the results on the shorter priced horses was pretty amazing. Basically they were all picked based on using a product called Odds Trawler and don’t be misled by the simplistic website - the product packs a punch

Odds Trawler says it is a powerful piece of Matched Betting & Arbitrage Trading software that will revolutionise the way you bet - but I think it is more than that. They say they trawl the bookies for you and churn out a constant stream of the very best bets available anywhere on the internet - I think it can be used as a great way of identifying gambles as they begin to take place in live time.

There are two versions of the software available OddsTrawler Basic and OddsTrawler Pro.The former is totally free to use whilst the latter costs just £10 per month and free email support is offered with both versions plus a comprehensive free guide is also available to explain exactly how to use the software to make the biggest profit possible.

I trialled it for around a month and after seeing a pattern develop recorded results for a ten day period from 7th November to the 17th. Basically I noticed with the shorter priced runners @ 6/1 and below if you set your filters right with at least three major books offering 110% of what someone was trying to back on Betfair for £500 or more then the results were very impressive.
Admittedly I only identified eleven runners but each and every one shortened by a considerable margin and produced three winners @ 100/30, 5/2 and 11/2. Whilst there were also some big gambles also from horses priced bigger (ie some from 12/1 into 6/1) the final results were not as strong and they often drifted on the exchanges closer to the off. This indeed is a small sample but it really does stand to reason - why would someone be wanting to lump on a horse with a decent wager at far less than a lot of bookmakers are prepared to offer? This piece of software therefore allows you to stay ahead of where the market is heading and can be used in various ways - simply backing to lay or just sticking with the bets to find winners.

I have attached the results of this small study but I really do recommend you give it a try yourself. The free version is time delayed and really doesn’t give a proper picture but for £10 a month the Odds Trawler pro version is really good value for money and don’t forget it doesn’t just cover horse racing but other sports as well. One thing I will say is that it could do with an auto refresh button but pressing F5 isn’t too difficult!
