SPORTS BETTING INDEX was founded in 2000 to help punters with all aspects of internet betting as the phenomenon of online gambling took off.
Whilst the site has changed and developed over time the core beliefs remain the same: being independent, honest and open.

The name Spreadex means a lot of people will be put off opening an account simply thinking - “well I don’t Spread bet so why bother?” - these people are missing out as they also offer a comprehensive fixed odds betting service which is very competitive. Personally speaking I don’t Spread bet either as I like to know the exact downside and upside of any bet I strike but it doesn’t mean I can’t take advantage of their fixed odds markets. Now is a good time to start a foray into spread betting as Spreadex have a generous opening offer on (see below) plus a really good fixed odds new account offer.

When choosing a bookmaker I like to see a long term established trading record and a gradual expansion of business and you certainly get that with Spreadex. The business was founded in 1999 by former City dealer Jonathan Hufford, who decided to set up his own company with the intention of making spread betting more accessible. In May 2006 they launched an online sports spread betting service and followed that by launching a financial spread betting online trading platform soon after. May 2010 saw Spreadex launch a full fixed odds sports betting service allowing bets to be placed in both fractional and decimal format.

This was followed in December 2010 by the company’s mobile sports betting platform going live, allowing clients to bet via their iPhone, smartphone or tablet device. In June 2011 Spreadex acquired the client database of Extrabet, the sports betting arm of IG Group, doubling the size of its sports business and leading to an estimated 35% share of the sports spread betting market. This was when I first started using them as my Extrabet account was migrated over and since that date they have continually upgraded and improved the service

I really like the fact that their Spread Betting and Fixed betting offering are all on the same page and split by market making the site very easy to navigate. On the golf betting front, which is obviously where I specialise, their product is constantly expanding to cover the smaller tours and they also now offer in running fixed odds betting on some tournaments which can offer some really good value if you can follow closely.

As the only company to offer financial spread betting, sports spread betting and fixed odds betting all from the convenience of one account they are well worth having in your betting portfolio no matter what your betting interests are. At the moment Spreadex are offering a double the odds fixed odds bet up to a maximum stake size of £100, plus if you fancy having a go at spread betting Spreadex are also offering free spread bets up to the value of £200 for all new account holders (terms and conditions apply - see site for details). What is really generous is the fact that you can qualify for both opening offers!
